Shirin is a writer and actress living in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated from Columbia University in New York and worked in investment banking for two years before deciding to disappoint her Persian immigrant parents and pursue screenwriting in Los Angeles. She wrote for the 2014 CBS Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase and went on to write & direct a number of sketch comedy videos that were written up by outlets including Huffington Post, Los Angeles Magazine, Uproxx, ScreenCrush, Instinct Magazine, and Slash Film. She was a writer for the New Form show Threads directed by Carly Usdin, and she co-created and co-starred in the web series Mental with Julie Lake (Orange is the New Black).

For a short time, she was possessed by a desire to do standup comedy and performed in clubs including The Comedy Store and Hollywood Improv and in shows headlined by Iliza Schlesinger, Helen Hong, and Michael Kosta.
