Shirin Najafi grew up in Northern California and graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in Economics. Following college, she worked in investment banking for two years before disappointing her Iranian immigrant parents and pursuing a career in entertainment. She has written on American Auto, Connecting, and the Hulu revival of Futurama. She is an alumnus of the Sundance Episodic Lab (2020-2021) and NBC's Writers on the Verge program (2019-2020). For a short time, Shirin was possessed by a desire to do stand-up and performed in clubs including The Comedy Store and Hollywood Improv.
